UNITY IN DIVERSITY THE CONCEPT AND REAL LIFE

30 YEARS OF INTEGRATIVE EDUCATION IN POLAND

26th and 27th September 2019. Szczęśliwicka st. 40, Warsaw, Poland

Thanks to your presence and involvement, we were able to document and consider our belief that:
inclusive society culture is a condition for real inclusive education and for realize a vision of “unity in diversity”.

The conference is intended to make reference to scientific meetings launched in the year 2003, which was established European Year of People with Disabilities by The Council of the European Union. Currently, in year 2019 we are going to have a closer look to 30th anniversary of inclusive education in Poland and express the wish to continue the tradition of special needs education in multi-layered thematic considerations:

  1. Personality – a learner as a person, his/her educational needs and the dynamics of his/her development
  2. Self-actualisation – a learner and his/her family as rightful participants of educational process
  3. Responsibility – – reliable and complex diagnosis of learner’s possibilities and needs
  4. Safety– support of learner’s development as well as support for the whole family
  5. Autonomy – right of equal acces to education

Inclusive education is a complex and multilayered process including such issues as normalisation and autonomy of people with disabilities. On that basis the idea to teach together learners demanding fulfillment of special needs and their physically and mentally sound peers came to existence. Joint education generates favourable conditions for realizing the concept of “good school for everybody”. Inclusive education process needs involvement of many subjects such as learners, teachers, parents, local communities as well as state-owned organizations and institutions. Complexity and numerous aspects of the process as well as its key role in shaping a new model of social life is calling for the need for renewal of the debate among both theoreticians and practitioners.

The conference is going to be held under media patronage of Special Education Forum, Interdisciplinary Disability Studies as well as academic journals issued by the Maria Grzegorzewska University, these are: “Special school” and „Man – Disability – Society”.

Planned forms of the conference aims realization:
