International scientific conference

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education (APS), 134th birthday of its founder and the Maria Grzegorzewska year, the APS Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and the APS Institute of Pedagogy are organizing a conference on women’s participation in the academic life of Polish universities in the 20th century.

The meeting will be attended by scholars of different disciplines from Polish and international academic research communities. The subject of their speeches will include profiles of women scientists, socio-cultural determinants of the presence of women at universities, their place and role in the world of science in the interwar period, socialism and political system transformation. A separate session will be devoted to Maria Grzegorzewska, the patron of our University.

The conference is held under the auspices of the Global Network of UNESCO Chairs on Gender, the R. B. Zajonc Institute for Social Studies UNESCO Chair "Women -Society- Development" and the Centre for Historical Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Berlin.
